The Long Road to Adventure... (Part 2)

On the second part of our interrupted road to Mosselbay, we made a lunch stop at Stilbaai. I'd never been there before & was entranced by the sparkling blue ocean & river, as well as the myriad of watersports offered by resorts preying on the influx of holiday-goers. We couldn't resist a post-lunch swim.

Arriving in Hartenbos later that afternoon, we settled into our little rudimentary "chalet" (right by the pool) and greeted the family (visiting friends & relatives). Seeing my two boy-cousins all big and grown-up was strange, but cool. We get along much better now than when we were younger and the two of them + Just-ify made the most amusing, horrifically ingenius trio when it came to out-door activities, such as super-tubing and paintball (I bore the bruises for almost 2 weeks).

What followed was a great, beautiful week of sea, sun & fun. Almost permanently in my swimming gear, I worshipped the sun while Just-ify gallavanted in the water, played some good old-fashioned beach cricket, strolled around the daily Xmas market, followed a trail to the cliffs overlooking the Mosselbay tidal pool, and just generally chilled out at home with the family. We also went for a brief rock climbing outing with Queery.

The week was rounded off with our traditional Xmas eve festivities, which involve my dad dressing up as Santa & entertaining the relatives, young & old, with his dramatic distribution of gifts.

What a beautiful country we live in. We somehow seem to miss it alot of the time. (-> Part 3)
