The games we used to play...
Where have all the hours gone that make up every day.
Months, years, lifetimes,
the games we used to play?
I remember days of hop-scotch
and Jaws flicks all night long.
Rollerskates, BMX
and Game Boy Donkey Kong.
Ninja turtles (cowabunga!) and the Wielie Walie song.
I remember writing letters to pen pals far away,
and how I'd wait a month to hear what they had to say.
I remember wearing yellow,
red & blue & green,
before the days when black and pink
took over the scene.
Cluedo, Muppets, K.T.V., Pumpkin Patch and yo-yo's.
No video game could ever beat the Super Mario Bro's.
I remember Tinkies, Chomps and candy-floss,
Reading "Did you know?" on Chappie wrappers - 7c they cost!
What do you remember folks?
What made time pass for you?
Before the days of DSTV, 3G and PS2?

Awww, you got me all nostalgic... I miss my barbies.... lots....
Some terrific nostalgia there :)
Yip.....u bet!
Very funny. I read through your post and I realise that I've forgotten to grow up. I still spend hours each day playing, the only difference being the games I play.
Hop-scotch has been replaced by bouldering, Jaws by LOTR and Starwars, rollerskates by in-line skates (and I still can't stop), my BMX by a racing bicycle and my Game Boy by the lastest in electronic computing yumminess.
I still write letters to pen pals far far away (Canada, England, Taiwan), but the thought of waiting a month for a reply is unthinkable.
I still wear yellow, red, blue and green. Yellow to hide the chalk stains, red to hide the blood stains, blue cause it matches my eyes and green to hide the grass stains.
Can't say as I remember Tinkies and the like. My parents quickly learned that mixing their hyperactive child with sugar leads to...well, we don't really talk about it.
I have to agree with the K.T.V and yo-yo's, and for me it was Wielie Wielie Walie, Dawie die Kabouter, Niels Holgerson, Brakenjan and Viki die Viking.
What made time pass for me? The same as does today. I am only limited by what my imagination can conjure and by the fact that I have to sleep sometime.
I miss trying on my mother's, hacking into my dad's porn on the computer, playing with my sisters barbies, watching the hunkie men on the soaps with my mom.
I miss Peanut Butter and syrup samies and sprinkles in my Pronetro.
I miss my Kid-Kops “bende” times (still use my secret badge number today as a password)
I miss watching manemarak and the turtles! I miss putting on shows in the front yard with my friends and inviting all the neighbours to come watch.
I miss my first love, the boy who lived across the street. That first kiss with a girl, that first kiss with a boy.
Oh fuck, now see what you have done, you have made me cry in the middle of Narga!!!
Gosh this is so stunning.
I miss Liewe Heksie, and all my imaginary friends! And Tin Tin, and Mario brothers was the best ever.
Spin the bottle when we where just 11.
